How I Stay Productive as a New Mother

February 7, 2018

Hello friends!

Since becoming a mother, I have struggled with how I manage my time and staying productive has being a tremendous challenge. Today, I wanted to share five super simple tips that have seriously worked and have helped me become more organized with my time as a new mother.

  • Wake up 20-30 minutes before baby. I recently started doing this and it has made a HUGE difference in how I start my day. Having that time to shower, get ready and drink my morning coffee helps me stay 100 times more motivated throughout the day and not staying in my pajamas all day it's a huge win.

  • Get ready. If you work from home or if you are a SAHM, this one will make a huge difference, trust me! The first few months of my baby's life, I ended up staying in my pajamas all day and I noticed that I was feeling so sad/anxious during the day. As soon as I started getting ready in the mornings, I started feeling a lot better and more productive.

  • Make a list. Write down 3 things that you want to accomplish that day. This has helped me a ton with that overwhelming feeling of having to complete everything that's on my head that day. That feeling ended up giving me anxiety at the end of each day since I was feeling so unaccomplished. Feel free to add simple things, such as paint my nails, clean the bedroom, go grocery shopping, etc. Trust me, when you have a baby, simple things like these become huge accomplishments.

  • Try to have a nap schedule for baby. I say try as every baby is so different and their schedules change a lot. My baby is five months and now is when we finally have a pretty great nap schedule that allows me to accomplish the things on my list. That being said, please do not feel overwhelmed if your baby is not napping, it will eventually happen, just be patient and follow your maternal instinct.

  • Be kind and patient with yourself. Being a mother is HARD work. Please be patient and kind with yourself, especially during those days that you did not accomplish what you wanted to. It's so easy to blame ourselves or have guilt for feeling exhausted, sad, anxious or unmotivated. But the truth is that ALL mothers experience these feelings and emotions and that is completely normal and okay. You are doing a fantastic job!

I definitely still have those days where I barely get anything accomplished, but doing these things has helped me a ton! Please let me know if you have any other tips in the comment section, that way we can all learn and help each other. Motherhood is even more beautiful when you can share your experiences with other moms!

Mila's Birth Story...

January 23, 2018

Better late than never, right?!

I was not sure if I wanted to share her birth story since it is a very personal experience and I had a really long and traumatizing labor. I finally decided to do it because we can all learn from difficult experiences and all that matters is that a healthy baby was brought into the world. No matter how hard the process was, it was a beautiful battle and all worth it at the end.  It will also be fun for her to read it when she grows up and I really wanted to document the birth story for us to be able to remember the details for years to come.
